History
The bounteous Amalfi coast has attracted strife, its history is littered with war and plague, but through the ages the people have lifted themselves up,built their towns with their industry and have survived these upheavals. From the ancient commercial Byzantine past to the time when the feuding nobles ruled it, the footprints of that era can be examined in your cooking vacation in Amalfi coast.
Geography
The gulf of Salerno in the north to Naples in the south, the Amalfi coast meanders along a road built in June 1807 by an enchanted Giuseppe Bonaparte. The road was completed in 1854 by Ferdinand II. It winds through thirteen towns, exhibiting coves cliffs and landscapes that still enchant visitors, today.

A legend tells, the name comes from Amalfi, a nymph loved by Hercules, buried there as a desire of the gods.
